Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is a pinching of the nerve in the wrist.  Often CTS is from chronic repeative stress.  Usually it is found only in one hand.  If in both hands then the source is usually in the neck.   It is estimated that about 80% of CTS surgeries are unnecessary.  This is because most carpal tunnel syndromes misdiagnosed.  The most common cause of pain and numbness in the hand is a pinched nerve in the neck.  True CTS symptoms will only be along the median nerve distribution.

The blue area is where there may be pain, numbness and or tingling.  If there are symptoms in any other part of the hand, or above the wrist, then you do not have just CTS.  In fact you may have a more complictated injury called Double Crush Syndrome.  Surgery at this point may provide temporary relief but, the symptoms will return shortly.  See your Chiropractor to get an accurate diagnosis or treatment plan.
